The German-Spanish Astronomical Center at Calar Alto is located in the Sierra de Los Filabres, north of Almeria. It is operated jointly by the Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie in Heidelberg/Germany and the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (IAA-CSIC) in Granada/Spain. It provides three telescopes with apertures of 1.23m, 2.2m and 3.5m. The Station of Observation of Calar Alto (EOCA) with a 1.5m-telescope is operated under the control of the Astronomic National Observatory (OAN) in Madrid. |

Schmidt Telescope It has an
aperture of 0.80 meters. This kind of telescope is special for photography
of wide celestial areas. |

OAN 1.52 m. Telescope It is a reflector telescope
of 1,52 m of diameter. Of totally Spanish property, its use is opened for
the whole astronomic national community. |
