Gran Telescopio de Canarias (GTC) It is a telescope of segmented primary mirror of 10,4 meters of diameter and of high presentations. On the verge of entering service, it will be one of the major ones and more advanced telescopes of the world. The GTC is the first project of " great science " that Spain is carrying out, led by the Institute of Astrophysics of Canaries (IAC). |
William Herschel Telescope (WHT) It has a primary mirror of 4.2 m. of diameter and this one operative from 1987. Close to the WHT and the INT there form the " Group of Telescopes Isaac Newton " whose users are PPARC (Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council), of the United Kingdom, NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek), of the Netherlands and Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC). |

With a mirror of 2
meters, it is one of the bigger automated telescope of the world. It belongs
and is operated by John Moores University (JMU) of Liverpool |
It is at the expense of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, of Belgium. It has a primary mirror of 1,2 meters of diameter. |

Managed and financed by the Institute of Solar Physics of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Sweden, it saw first light on March 2, 2002. With a frontal lens of 1 m. Of diameter is the biggest telescope of solar optics of Europe and the second one of the world. |
Inaugurated
in 1996, the opened structure reduces to the minimum the atmospheric
disturbances and the fluctuations of temperature and density what allows to
obtain images of excellent quality. |

Carlsberg Meridian Telescope
It function consists of measuring with high precision the position of the celestial objects. It belongs to the Observatory of the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and to the Real Instituto y Observatorio de la Armada de San Fernando (Cadiz, Spain). |
Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov Telescope (MAGIC)
MAGIC (Major
Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes) is a collaboration of
universities and institutes of research. It possesses a telescope Cherenkov
of 17 m of diameter for the observation of high energy gamma rays and cosmic
rays, inside the area of the Experiment HEGRA. |
